Sparx Soaps started as a botany class experiment. The assignment was to present something made from plants. I thought it would be fun to make something purely plant based and 100% useful, creating little or no waste. A friend had given me a bar of handmade soap, made with essential oils derived from flowers and herbs. After using it, my skin felt sparkling fresh and revitalized. I began to experiment with my own soapmaking and before I knew it, botany and luxury combined and Sparx Soap blossomed. Soon my husband and I opened a small record and soap store, Weekend Records and Soap, where it achieved a small but loyal cult following from local Chicagoians as well as world renowned musicians. When Weekend closed, Sparx Soap went on a 5 year hiatus while I pursued a career in web development and a new life as a mother. But soapmaking is a powerful thing and I couldn't wait to start making it again.

Sparx Soaps are handmade in small batches. They are made with all natural ingredients and contain no animal products. The scents come from high quality essential oils and the colors come from powdered herbs, minerals and clays. I make products that are safe for your body and the environment. My soaps are minimally packaged and can be purchased in bulk to help eliminate wasteful packaging. I highly recommend composting or vermicomposting the cardboard boxes I'm currently using.
